MSc Architecture, Royal Institute of Technology
Year 1, Autumn 2022
Seminar Course, Individual work
This seminar course provided an introduction to architecture and gender, and focused on developing tools for pursuing feminist articulations and interpretations of architecture as discipline and profession. We studied contemporary feminist theory and architectural practices, and investigated how architecture and other built structures relate to them. The course was organised into four themes: Positionings, Ethics of care, Intersections, and Specificities.
We were asked to choose a case study to understand the themes and topics discussed in the reading materials
and lectures. I chose a design project I undertook in my Bachelor's degree where I designed a co-housing scheme located in Oxford City Centre (the project can be found here).
